Position summary:
As an Assistant Designer for Women's Underwear, you will play a vital role in supporting the design team in creating captivating and groundbreaking underwear collections for women. Your responsibilities will involve assisting in the design process, conducting research, and contributing to the development of underwear designs that align with the brand's vision and market trends. You will collaborate with the design team, gain valuable experience, and aid in Calvin Klein's success in the women's underwear market.

Primary responsibilities/accountabilities of the job:
Responsibilities:
Research and Inspiration:
• Assist in conducting research on fashion trends, fabrications, trims, branding ideas and elevated construction details relevant to the product category.
Design Development:
- Partner with other team members to build sketches, illustrations, and technical drawings for women's bra and panty designs.
- Share ideas and concepts to help shape the overall direction of new bra and panty collections.
Material and Trim Selection:
- Assist in sourcing and selecting appropriate fabrics, trims, for underwear prototypes and production.
- Collaborate with suppliers and product developers to ensure material availability and quality.
Tech Pack Creation:
• Support the design team in creating detailed tech packs / BOMs and design specifications for underwear proto samples, SMS and production.
Sample Review and Fit Sessions:
• Participate in sample reviews and fittings to help assist take fit notes, update construction technical sketches as needed, and ensure design details meet as original design intention.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product developers and merchandisers, to ensure flawless execution of all underwear products.
Brand Alignment:
- Understand and maintain the brand's design aesthetic and language in all women's underwear products.
- Collaborate with the design team and brand team to ensure consistency in storytelling and branding across all underwear collections.
Trend Presentation:
• Assist in preparing trend presentations and mood boards to inspire and inform the design process.

Qualifications & experience:
Experience: Entry level / Related intern design experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Skills:
- Must have working technical garment construction knowledge.
- Maintain organized design archives and sample inventory
- Aesthetically keen eye for color, fabric, and style.
- Proficient in Hand / illustrator sketching.
- Strong digital literacy. Proficient in Photoshop, illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, word, PowerPoint and other related software.
- Create and maintain tech packs / BOM in Centric system.
- Excellent communication and social skills.
- Acute attention to detail throughout the product lifecycle.
- Assist in crafting and updating line sheets and other design documents.

Internal & external contacts:
Internal: Partner with Designer daily to present new insights and secure approval of designs within deadlines, as well as discuss pertinent issues. Collaborate in weekly design team meetings. Meet with Sourcing team on weekly basis to review production issues, and follow up on any color, fabric, trim approvals needed in a timely manner. Meet with Technical design team for fittings during the seasonal development process, and partner on tech pack updates as needed. Communicate clearly on daily emails with cross functional partners. Support and contribute to the overall success of the design team and company.
External: Assist in selection of fabrics, trend research and trims, meeting with external vendors and partners. Communicate with overseas hub offices.
DECISION MAKING: Daily decisions regarding production issues: color, fabric, trim, L/D, strike off approvals; these decisions affect the overall quality and outcome of the product. Collaborate with cross functional teams on direction of the design integrity by delivery to drive sales and evolve the product. Advise technical design team on design vision for fit of all products.
RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY: Able to design and handle multiple seasons at one time. Maintain consistent high quality of product from season to season, vendor to vendor. Flexible in designs to meet sales needs while still providing newness to products. Willing to make updates as needed to meet the changing business needs. Must be very organized and detailed to effectively follow up on preproduction approvals. Highly creative in design to provide newness and drive sales while maintaining the correct technical approach.

Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills.
