Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins' focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine; strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and patients.


Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.


The Office of Volunteer Engagement (OVE) seeks to engage, steward, and recognize Johns Hopkins' leadership volunteers according to their interests through meaningful activities that encourage and recognize their long-term support of the institution and the positive impact of their involvement and philanthropy. Developing and maintaining a community of engaged leadership volunteers is vital to the institution and the success of DAR. In pursuit of these goals, OVE collaborates with a wide range of colleagues across Johns Hopkins University and Medicine.


This position reports directly to the Associate Director, managing centralized reporting on university and medicine leadership volunteers, partnering with colleagues across the institution to ensure consistent data management and reporting on volunteers, and administering other technology solutions to more effectively engage and support leadership volunteers.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverage DAR's newly launched Salesforce-based CRM, JHAS (Johns Hopkins Advancement System) for reporting and data analysis on leadership volunteers across Johns Hopkins University and Medicine.
  • Maintain and refine a standard set of metrics and annual dashboards (both centrally and for individual development units) to measure the overall health and performance of advisory boards/councils and their impact on the institution.
  • Develop and maintain metrics reflecting the impact of volunteers on their respective board(s), as well as the institution.
  • In close partnership with the Office of Advancement Services, develop and maintain guidelines, documentation, and resources for volunteer coding and reporting in JHAS.
  • Advise divisional offices on JHAS-related best practices for volunteers; provide training, guidance, and leadership in ensuring accurate data.
  • When in campaign, support data and reporting efforts related to the campaign volunteer structure and the development of a robust volunteer pipeline.
  • Use proactive data integrity checks to verify the quality of volunteer data on a regular basis and address discrepancies.
  • Oversee the implementation of a board portal for interested development units, working with the vendor to ensure appropriate structure and permissions.
  • Serve as the point person for development units implementing the board portal and provide training and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Serve on institutional working groups/committees as a volunteer engagement representative and lead volunteer engagement training(s) as needed.
  • Manage, coordinate, or assist with other projects and events as required.
  • Offer assistance and mentorship to other staff members as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Volunteer Engagement.




Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years related experience.

  • Experience in data management, reporting, and visualization
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to research, analyze and present data effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and drive consensus
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and the discernment to know when such independence is warranted.
  • Ability to establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve goals
  • Experience in Salesforce, Tableau and similar tools.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, and customer service.
