Position Overview:
The Penthouse Restaurant seeks a highly skilled Assistant General Manager (AGM) with proven experience in managing upscale dining establishments. The AGM will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations, ensuring excellence in service, and driving business growth through strong financial management and team leadership. This is a hands-on role where the AGM will directly oversee guest satisfaction, staff performance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development:
- Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, ensuring consistency in service excellence and maintaining a positive, energetic work environment.
- Motivate staff through goal setting, providing regular feedback, and recognizing employee achievements.
- Conduct daily pre-shift and regular staff meetings to ensure communication and alignment with operational goals.
- Manage hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions for all front-of-house employees.
Operations Management:
- Direct and oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring compliance with company standards and local regulations for guest satisfaction, safety, and quality.
- Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage while adhering to labor cost guidelines.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and overall property appearance.
Financial Management:
- Oversee purchases and monitor all expenses, including inventory and payroll submissions, to optimize cost control.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of business operations and financials, including managing P&Ls, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Execute financial reporting and work with the General Manager to meet revenue and profitability targets.
Guest Relations:
- Exude a passion for providing genuine hospitality to both guests and team members, ensuring every guest has an exceptional dining experience.
- Act as a key problem solver, quickly and effectively resolving guest concerns and turning challenging situations into positive outcomes.
Wine & Spirits Knowledge:
- Exhibit significant knowledge of wines and spirits, staying current with industry trends to enhance the restaurant’s offerings.
- Work closely with the bar and sommelier teams to ensure menu offerings align with the restaurant’s high standards.
Marketing & Risk Management:
- Assist in preparing and executing marketing plans to promote the restaurant and special events.
- Oversee risk management protocols, including emergency procedures and compliance with safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as an AGM in a contemporary, chef-driven, full-service, upscale dining establishment.
- Proven track record in developing and leading teams to achieve excellence.
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of restaurant financials, including P&L management, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and hold staff accountable.
- Significant knowledge of wine, spirits, and current industry trends.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a luxury dining environment with an understanding of fine dining service standards.
- Familiarity with OpenTable & Micros POS.
