About Indiana Office of Technology

The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.


Role Overview
:

Indiana Broadband Office is working to ensure all Hoosiers are connected to service as broadband internet has become a necessity to interact in all aspects of life. This is an exciting time to work in this space as we have had an unprecedented investment in deploying broadband services to all Hoosiers with the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program and Digital Equity Act. This job offers candidates the opportunity to work with both internal and external stakeholders to promote the program throughout the state. We are looking for someone who is a good team member, has experience with working with the Public, and understands how to provide quality customer service. Training in our program content will be provided to the right candidate.


Salary Statement
:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.


A Day in the Life:

The Communications Manager is responsible for many organizational and creative tasks to standardize and improve the communication efforts of the office. They have the following responsibilities:

  • Consult with executive management to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations
  • Draft press releases and speeches following organizational news
  • Write letters, interdepartmental memos and other business correspondence
  • Communicate with media outlets and journalists and create press kits
  • Develop materials to educate staff on communication practices
  • Coach and assist team members on improving communication skill
  • Perform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications strategies
  • Update and create content for agency website
  • Oversee all internal and external communications for the office, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging
  • Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials

The Communications Manager uses a variety of soft skills and industry knowledge to best develop, monitor and revise the office's communications strategies, which include:

  • A confident communicator and presenter
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Superior project management and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management


Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
