THE ROLE

Like our teachers, school leaders must display uncompromising effort at demonstrating or acquiring excellence in the professional areas outlined below:

  • Leverage technology to foster greater inquiry, collaboration and supportive interactions with and among students, colleagues and families.
  • Develop and implement plan to insure a safe, orderly, non threatening learning environment for all students.

Specifically, the Director of Scholar Support Services will be responsible for the following: 

Leadership of Scholar Support Services

  • Ensure the compliance of general education teachers with modification requirements of student IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Work with the CST Case Manager to coordinate all the necessary components of scholar IEPs are provided by teachers.
  • Use data to identify children who demonstrate a need for additional academic, emotional, and physical supports.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of required service for students with learning disabilities, including the implementation of IEPS.
  • Coordinate intervention services to accelerate the acquisition of cognitive and social emotional skills of identified students.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of specific RtI strategies and refine levels of support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and school policy.
  • Lead the development of the Special Education, Title I, and ESL in-class support schedule for resource teachers .

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Communicate with families of scholars receiving Special Services about all aspects of the program and provide support and resources as needed.
  • Consults and collaborates effectively with families and caregivers of students with identified concerns and special needs .

General Building Leadership

  • Develop a written plan for managing a comprehensive support program which promotes the intellectual, social, and physical development of all QCA scholars.
  • Provide coaching and assistance to general education and resource teachers with planning, implementation and evaluation of classroom-based interventions for students.
  • Facilitate the curation and sharing of RtI best practices among all teachers.
  • Develop a toolkit of grade-level/subject area assessments teachers can use to monitor student progress.
  • Conduct formal observations of assigned teachers across multiple content areas and write evaluations.
  • Plan and deliver professional development for teachers, staff and administrators to advance both the inclusion and RTI competencies of all school stakeholders.
  • Assist the Elementary or High School Director with the daily operations of the building as needed, and when necessary provide support.
  • Work closely with the school leaders and Dean of Climate and Culture to provide behavioral and discipline-related interventions to scholars.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold at minimum a Master’s degree, New Jersey School Building Supervisor’s Certificate, and Special Education Endorsement.  Applicants must demonstrate socio-political consciousness, the ability to communicate with parents and students across lines of cultural difference, a track record of successful teaching, an orientation towards teamwork, and hold high expectations of students and colleagues.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills and a personal accountability mindset. 

Salary Range

$90,000 - $115,000
