Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for electrical projects, including new installations, upgrades, and maintenance services. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, materials, and labor requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in the electrical contracting industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements Key Responsibilities: - Review and analyze electrical plans, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Consult with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors to clarify scope and ensure comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
- Quantify material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, low-voltage systems, and other related electrical components.
- Prepare detailed, itemized estimates and submit them for management review and approval.
- Conduct site visits, if necessary, to assess project conditions, including existing infrastructure, to provide accurate estimates.
- Identify potential project risks and include necessary contingencies in estimates.
- Monitor industry trends, including material and labor costs, to ensure estimates are competitive.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
- Work closely with project managers and the construction team to ensure estimates align with project execution plans.
- Participate in bid meetings, negotiations, and project handover processes.
- Maintain and update an organized database of historical estimates for future reference.
- Track and report on actual project costs versus estimated costs to improve future estimates.
Qualifications: - 2 - 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction or electrical contracting industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
- Proficiency in estimating software (such as Accubid, McCormick, or similar tools) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local electrical codes and standards is preferred.
