SOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help homeless and poor individuals and families in Washington, DC. Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking afull-time Family Services Clinician II to support our Family Services department.

Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $71,510.40 to $84,021.60 and may be commensurate with experience.

Position Description: The Family Services Clinician II will provide clinical support to single adults, youth and families in the Family Services housing programs. The Family Services Clinician II will also assist the Clinical Director with developing and overseeing clinical programming and providing consultation, training and support to Family Services staff.

Furthermore, they offer consultation to team members on specific cases. Collaborating with the Chief Clinical Officer or assigned representative, they provide leadership and counsel on matters concerning mental health and psychiatry. Moreover, they supervise or engage in internships and preceptorships associated with the FQHC. Experience working with domestic violence, substance abuse and youth behavioral issues is a must..

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours per week); Must be available for virtual community meetings in the evenings (Varied) This position is eligible for hybrid/telework option of (1) remote day per week.

Required: Master's Degree; 3 yrs. post clinical licensure experience; experience providing services to low-income families, knowledge of clinical challenges facing individuals and families transitioning from homelessness to supportive housing; experience with electronic medical records

Preferred: Master's Degree; 5-7 yrs. post clinical licensure experience; supervisory experience, 2+ yrs. providing services to low income families; fluency in Spanish is a plus; Driver's License and access to a vehicle

Required License/Certification: LICSW or LPC in Washington, DC with the Department of Health; CPR certification - infant and adult

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and trauma related issues and treatment for adults and children
  • Advanced practice experience in applying evidence-based approaches to behavioral health care including, but not limited to,
  • Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Trauma Informed Care and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Knowledge of family/group/individual behavior and dynamics and sensitive to diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Experience with administering and evaluating diagnostic assessment and screening tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work tasks
  • Ability to implement crisis intervention techniques and de-escalate highly tense situations
  • Knowledge of Core Service Agencies, dually diagnosed clients, crisis care facilities and other mental health community resources
  • Ability to establish and adhere to strong professional boundaries
  • Ability to engage and develop strong professional relationships

Expected Contributions: Clinical Treatment Services

  • Provide individual, family and group counseling and therapy at assigned sites
  • Develop individual and family treatment plans
  • Provide residents with referrals to Core Service Agencies, Psychiatrists, and other clinical support services as deemed appropriate
  • Document all clinical encounters in charts and/or electronic medical records after each session, reporting high risk matters immediately to leadership
  • Perform clinical screenings and assessments and determine diagnosis
  • Visit weekly and provide consultation with Case Managers and Program Managers at designated Family Services program sites
  • Assist Clinical Director with educating and training program staff on clinical issues, education etc.
  • Provide clinical support to designated programs
  • Provide training and consultations with program staff; participate in case conferences, and other department meetings as necessary
  • Compile monthly program statistics from designated Family Services programs sites

Supervisory & Administrative

  • In collaboration with the Chief Clinical Officer, Senior Vice President (SVP), and Senior Director, supervise compliance with regulatory bodies for the agency.
  • Supervise clinical interns for all Family Services programs (for LCSW, LICSW, an LPC only).
  • Ensure appropriate intern staffing levels in order to meet objectives; assess, evaluate, and onboard new interns as needed Submit intern paperwork to Clinical Director, Universities, Volunteer Coordinator, and SOME's Intern Coordinator
  • Ensure intern compliance with all state, local, and federal laws governing the workplace and specific licensure requirements
  • Assist the Clinical Director with overseeing all clinical programming for Family Services

Reports to: Clinical Director, Family Services

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME.
